About us
GLIN Impact Capital aims to work towards a society where social issues are autonomously resolved alongside economic growth. We strive to incorporate economic externalities and sustainability principles into all business and financial activities. Based on this mission, we make impact and ESG investments, as well as support companies with their corporate transformation. We seek to explore new approaches to finance and corporate management which will lead to the development of a more sustainable global economy and society.
What we do
ESG & Impact Investing
We make impact/ESG investments in growth-stage unlisted companies in Japan and the U.S., and support our portfolio companies to grow sustainably while pursuing their social mission. As the first-generation impact/ESG investment fund in Japan, we will contribute to the development of the evolving ecosystem while sharing our knowledge with our stakeholders.
Sustainability Consulting
We provide consulting services to clients in the realm of ESG and sustainability from an impact/ESG perspective to maximize enterprise value. Such services include the disclosure of environmental and sustainability information, sustainability strategy advisory services such as sustainability reporting, materiality assessment, TCFD, and CDP support services, as well as others as required on a case-by-case basis.
Portfolio
On the Slope is a company with the mission to promote “agriculture that lasts for 100 years.” To achieve this mission, they promote environmentally friendly farming methods and sell its produce through its e-commerce platform.
JSH provides home-based healthcare services mainly for psychiatric patients in addition to regional development projects with the mission of “creating joy and happiness through people.”
UniFa Inc.’s mission is to “create new social infrastructures that create happy families around the world.” Their service is to provide DX for daycare centers and other childcare facilities to support caretakers and families that depend on them.
Asuene provides a service called Asuzero which is a cloud solution for the visualization and reduction of CO2 emissions.

Masato Nakamura
Masato Nakamura worked throughout his career at a leading general trading company in Japan where he established new businesses in developing countries (Indonesia), invested in high-growth startups, developed AI and IoT initiatives, and spearheaded digital transformation projects. While studying at Harvard Business School, he served as the President of the Impact Investment Club and worked for the Acumen Fund.

Masahiro Hata
Masahiro Hata is a Partner of GLIN Impact Capital. Prior to GLIN, he worked at Mitsubishi Corporation, turning around unprofitable businesses. He also worked at Anzu Partners and JAFCO, investing in startups and growth stage firms. Masa deepened his knowledge on impact and ESG investment at Harvard Business School and upon graduation, he founded GLIN. Masa also serves as a chair of the VC committee of the Japan Impact-driven Financing Initiative.

Sadaharu Saiki
Sadaharu Saiki worked at Dentsu where he was in charge of overseas marketing for a major automobile company and social impact marketing for a local government. After gaining overseas experience in Bangalore, India, he decided to further his knowledge of impact/ESG investment at Harvard Business School. During his time at HBS, he worked for Omidyar Network and Kepple Africa Ventures (Kenya). Upon returning to Japan, he joined McKinsey & Company. He graduated with distinction from Harvard Business School in 2020.

Yuji Kato
Yuji Kato previously worked for the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (now the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD, Paris), Morgan Stanley, and Merrill Lynch (London). Notably, he had also served as the Managing Director of GE’s Healthcare Business in Asia, President of Permira Advisors Japan, and Executive Managing Director, COO & CIO of the Cool Japan Organization. Yuji holds an MBA from Yale University.

Tamura Yosuke
Yosuke Tamura is a Partner of GLIN where he is engaged in ESG consulting for portfolio companies and listed companies. Prior to GLIN Yosuke was a consultant at EY and Accenture, where he engaged in policy recommendations of ESG investment for G20 countries and HR consulting to promote gender equality. He is currently on a leave of absence from the dual master’s program of MIT Sloan and IE Business School.

Tsuyoshi Domoto
Tsuyoshi Domoto leads GLIN’s consulting and advisory business. Prior to GLIN, Tsuyoshi worked at JP Morgan and PwC in its sustainability division. He was involved in projects which helped Japanese corporates form a sustainability strategy and conduct materiality assessments. He graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education where he holds a Master’s in Education (M. Ed. 2017).

Ulysses Aoki
Ulysses is a sustainability professional with experience in pushing the business and human rights and sustainable supply chain agendas in Japan. He started his career at EY and helped build the sustainability team, in addition to serving as a catalyst to grow the sustainability market in Japan. He joined Spiber Inc. in 2021 as the head of long-term strategy.

Ryuhei Terada
Ryuhei is an ESG professional with extensive experience in the area of climate-related ESG consulting. After starting his career at MUFG Bank, he switched to an ESG consulting firm where he provided services including formulation of internal policies and regulations related to ESG, support for improving ESG evaluation via MSCI and FTSE and crafting a PRI annual report.

Nana Yamaguchi
Nana Yamaguchi has 5 years of work experience in a major infrastructure company in the corporate planning department, where she developed an interest in the ESG (renewable energy and decarbonization) sector and impact investing. She will be pursuing an MBA at IE Business School from September 2023.

Miyuki Kiso
Miyuki joined Mizuho Securities in 2015 as a market economist and later worked in the investment banking division, where she was involved in structuring securitization. From 2019, she worked at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, where she was involved in financing projects in the water and waste sectors and served as a relationship manager for Sri Lanka. She will be pursuing a graduate degree at Oxford University from the fall of 2023.

Ms. Uemura started her career working in developing countries (Myanmar, Moldova, etc.) during her time at Sirius, a trading company that specializes in official development assistance (ODA) where she led projects to improve healthcare as an on-site project manager. She then joined Arthur D. Little, a strategic consulting firm, where she was engaged in drafting mid-term business plans, creation of new businesses, M&A, marketing, R&D, ESG strategy development, and government research.

Shawn Cole
Shawn Cole is a professor at Harvard Business School (HBS), where he teaches and conducts research on financial services, social enterprise, and impact investing. Before joining the HBS, he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in the economic research department. He has served on the Boston Federal Reserve’s Community Development Research Advisory Council, as well as on the Gates Foundation, and was the chair of the endowment management committee of the Telluride Association.

Vikram Gandhi
Vikram Gandhi is a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School. Vikram is the Founder of Asha Impact, an impact-oriented venture capital firm and is also a Senior Advisor to The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. He is also a member of the Business Administration Advisory Board at University of the People and a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and has been a part of the New York, Hong Kong and Mumbai chapters. In his vast career, he spent a total of 23 years in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse.

Brian Trelstad is a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School, where his teaching and research focuses on social entrepreneurship, systems change, impact investing, and the role of business in society. Brian is also a Partner and Board Member at Bridges Fund Management, an impact investing fund that invests in health, education, and environmental services business. Prior to Bridges, Brian was the Chief Investment Officer of Acumen, where he oversaw investments in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Arisa has been involved in research and training projects related to impact investing and philanthropy in Japan and the United States at institutions such as Indiana University School of Philanthropy, the Social Innovation and Investment Foundation (SIIF), the Social Impact Management Initiative (SIMI), and the Sagamore Institute. Previously, she spent eight years in the U.K., where she worked for Storm Research Limited, an independent public equity research firm, conducting research on small and mid-cap stocks in Japan.
